Among the activities is the update of the study “The Pontevedra Provincial Council and Galicia’s Foreign Action.” This research takes place at a crucial moment, with the 2021 Galician Law on Foreign Action and Development Cooperation, Spain’s entry as an observer in the CPLP (2021), or the recent establishment of the Xunta de Galicia’s Paz Andrade Observatory of Lusophony opening up new avenues for collaboration and exchange for Galicia.
In addition to the study, the project includes a webinar on Galicia’s Foreign Action and its links with the province of Pontevedra. This online session, lasting two hours, will take place on Wednesday, November 20, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. It will be open to the public but is especially aimed at political and technical representatives of the Provincial Council and municipal councils of the province. During the session, best practices for municipalities in external projection will be discussed, providing an overview of the Galician regulatory framework and the potential of the Portuguese language as a cultural and commercial bridge. To register, complete the following form. Attendance certificates will be issued to participants in the webinar.
The project will culminate with the 2nd Gala of Lusophony, to be held on November 23 at the A Guarda Cultural Center. Titled “The Republic of Dreams,” the gala, presented by journalist Esther Estévez, will combine music, interviews, and international connections to celebrate the brotherhood between Galicia and the Lusophone world. Inspired by the work of Brazilian writer Nélida Piñón, the gala will explore the dreams, legends, and stories that unite both sides of the Atlantic, from emigration, culture, or trade. To register, complete the following form.
Through this project, the Pontevedra Provincial Council takes another step in the international projection of the territory, reaffirming ties with the Lusophone world, a space of cultural and economic opportunities in the interdependent 21st-century world.
